Welcome
Desultor is a riding and driving technique where one leaps from the back of one horse to another, or from one carriage to another. We've taken this as a metaphor: the leaping from one game to another; the leap for a new start, a new challenge. Desultor SIM Game was founded in the spring of 2010 by several seasoned game players from all sorts of backgrounds, bringing together various viewpoints, ideas, and tastes for the hopes of a well-rounded game. Desultor is primarily a forum-based game with some automation, such as our bank, farrier,
and vet.
The game is open to all manner of breeds and disciplines. If you wish to own the
biggest stable of Dressage competitors, miniature donkeys, or be the epitome of
the Draft breed, you may do so. We follow the old-school rules and encourage the
use of maturity and manners. We want to give our members every opportunity to
pursue any goal or dream they may have in mind -- while having a great time
doing so!

05/01/12 We have some big events in Desultor right now! The first leg of the 2012 Triple Crown and Triple Tiara kicks off tomorrow and we've completed two of the four 2012 Desultor Olympics Qualifiers. We continue to encourage the adoption and fostering of HS horses, as well as helping the market keep turning by buying a horse or two from your fellow member! We're hoping to attract a few new active members, so if you've been looking for a game that still harkens to the old school SIM games, keep us in consideration!
03/07/12 As many of you know, our new equine registry is up! There are still a few bugs and tweaks that need to be fixed, and we appreciate it that everyone is being so tolerable and patient as we clean things up. We have also begun Desultor's Second Annual Olympics with the first qualifier next month! By popular suggestion, creating writeups for Humane Society horses is now worth AMI. Lastly, a friendly reminder to everyone to keep up with vet and farrier -- especially with spring just around the corner!

The Presidents
|
Hello! Welcome to Desultor. I am Whitney, co-president of the game, along with my dear friend Pinto. Pinto and I met while playing a former game, and quickly became friends. We're both a little odd, and I'm guessing that led, in some part, to our friendship. I began simming around age 12 (like many others), and I'm pretty sure I was that annoying, young member everyone loves to hate. I fell off the simming wagon in my late teens, but stumbled across an old-fashioned, traditional sim game (like Desultor!) after my first year at college. I quickly became hooked. I had always loved horses, but I also really enjoyed the analytical parts of the game (such as money management, scheduling breedings and show conflicts). That game eventually led to the creation of Desultor.
In Desultor, I primarily raise racing Thoroughbreds and stock horses. My farm, Monroe, Inc., is located in Cuba and that is where I am attempting to rival Pinto's dominance over the Desultor racing world.
In real life, I work in community relations, though my degree is in journalism. I am married to a high school baseball coach. I live in a very rural area, where I enjoy going to the many lakes, rivers and creeks that surround us, along with more indoor endeavors, such as reading and cooking.
Again, welcome to Desultor. I hope you enjoy simming as much as I do, and Desultor is the perfect place for those who love all equine sports and enjoy learning more about them. |

Welcome to Desultor! I am Pinto, the other co-president alongside Whitney. I've been simming since I was eleven years old, which is a long time ago now that I think of it! I have always loved horses, and almost spontaneously became a horse racing fan in 2002. When it comes to gameplay, I am a nerd for pedigrees, racing realism, and good old fashioned competition between members and stables.
In Desultor I concentrate on racing Thoroughbreds, Paints, and Quarter
Horses who go on to english and western disciplines upon their retirement
from the track. To keep my usually massive herd organized, I own Black Storm
Stables, King's Gate, and Spindletree while overseeing the Eclipse Award
Committee. I've always been a more
'behind the scenes' person, so you can only imagine my joy with having Whitney as my cohort in this nutty, spectacular game.
In real life, I am a college student pursuing a degree in history -- for what purpose still alludes me,
with hopes of pursuing a Library Science degree later in life. I enjoy Thoroughbred pedigree research, reading, drawing, arts and crafts, and writing as past-time hobbies.
I have been a participant in National Novel Writing Month since 2006 and yes, I am one of those hopeless individuals who hope to publish a story later in life.
As Whitney mentioned, I hope you enjoy your stay here in Desultor. We're a thriving, diverse community always looking to expand our horizons. |
